 Meet Ogun State 2019 APC Gubernatorial Candidate Dapo Abiodun Aka Heyden Oil Boss.  The Ijebu Ode born businessman and politician whose impeccable pedigree on the social scene is well known.

He was Chairman of Corporate Affairs Commission  and a founding member of All Progressives Congress in Ogun State,Adedapo Abiodun has declared that his governorship  ambition in the state was to sustain the legacy of  the state governor,Senator  Ibikunle Amosun .

Not many people know that wealthy businessman, Dapo Abiodun,  and father of late DJ Olu was contesting to become the next governor of Ogun State come 2019.

Dapo Abiodun, is a billionaire oil mogul from Iperu, Ogun state.

Abiodun,is 58 years old, And he his the chairman of Heyden Oil Company and a politician.

Prior to the death of his son, Abiodun had indicated interest in running for the forthcoming 2019 gubernatorial election in his state.

He had four children before the death of his eldest son. He is now left with only one boy and two girls.

His campaign posters which are trending have been on social media as far back as February this year 2019 and a couple of dedicated social media accounts have been spreading and campaigning for the Ogun State Prince.

Abiodun stated this in Iperu-Remo,Ogun State, on  Friday while  declaring  his intention to vie for the governorship of Ogun State on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019. Abiodun, who was the Ogun East senatorial candidate for the APC in 2015 general elections  said he joined the race  to serve the  people of  the state and raise the bar.

He also said his  governorship race was  in order to espouse what he termed “mass-centric” governance, if given the mandate come 2019, describing governor Amosun as hardworking governor whose legacy must e sustained. ” I will raise the bar in Ogun state. I dont have any doubt about it. I am submitting myself.

I dont have the doubt that I will bring my experience and bring down the government to the people. “I will focus on projects that have direct impact on the masses.I will  de-emphasize projects that are just for visibility purpose and concentrate more on those that are capable of adding values to the lives of the people of Ogun”,he said. The CAC chairman, who recalled that he was the youngest person to be elected senator in 1992 and a runner-up during the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2002 in the state, declared  that he will take over the mantle of leadership from the incumbent governor  next year. He however, commended the national Chairman of APC Adams Oshiomole over the use of direct primaries to elect the party governorship candidates in all the states ahead of 2019 elections .

He said “Our national Chairman has said that the party will adopt direct primaries. Direct primary affords every card carrying member to be carried along. Delegate primary does noy produce most popular candidate. Many primaries have been held in government house. This direct primary has saved the party and stopped further defections .

“Our national Chairman should be commended . President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed  Tinubu have agrees with the use of direct primary. I am fully in support of direct primary for the emergence of governorship candidate in Ogun State”. Abiodun however, ruled out any  defection from APC to another party  after the party  primaries if he did not emerge as APC governorship candidate .

NWC Declares Dapo Abiodun Winner of APC Governorship Primary:


The Muhammad Ndabawa-led electoral committee sent to Ogun State by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has declared Prince Dapo Abiodun winner of the Direct governorship primary of Ogun APC for the 2019 gubernatorial election.

The party had earlier declared Abdukabir Adekunle Akinlade winner and gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2019 election.

Declaring the result of the governorship primary election conducted throughout the 236 wards across the 20 Local Governments Area of Ogun State, the Chairman of the Committee, Muhammad Ndabawa, said Prince Abiodun polled 102, 305 votes to emerge winner.

Ndabawa added that other contestants – Jimi Lawal scored 51, 153 votes while Abimbola Ashiru polled 29, 764 votes.

Other contestants, Senator Gbenga Kaka got 17,771 votes and Abayomi Hunye 9,110 votes while Adekunle Akinlade scored 23, 443 votes.

The electoral chairman for the state however noted that the declaration of Prince Dapo Abiodun as winner of the primary and governorship candidate of APC in Ogun state for 2019 governorship election, is “subject to ratification by the National Working Committee” of the party.

Fielding questions from reporters regarding the primary earlier conducted by Committees set up by the Ogun state APC and subsequent declaration of Abdukabir Adekunle Akinlade winner and gubernatorial candidate by the state Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, Ndabawa said he was not aware of such primary.

He added that the Committee he led, is the authentic body constituted by the NWC to conduct and supervise governorship primary in the state in line with the party guidelines and constitution.

The announcement of Abiodun, an oil magnate and real estate operator from Iperu town in Ogun East Senatorial district of the state, came barely six hours after Akinlade was also declared winner in a primary conducted on Tuesday, allegedly, without the Committee from Abuja playing a part in it.
