Meet International award-winning Nigerian-American writer & Novelist Nnedi Okorafor. Nnedi Okorafor is an international award-winning novelist of African-based science fiction, fantasy and magical realism for both children and adults.

Born in the United States to two Nigerian immigrant parents, Nnedi is known for weaving African culture into creative evocative settings and memorable characters.

In a profile of Nnedi’s work titled, “Weapons of Mass Creation”, The New York Times called Nnedi’s imagination “stunning”.

Nnedi’s books include:

  • Lagoon (a British Science Fiction Association Award finalist for Best Novel), adult

Nnedi Okorafor announced that George R. R. Martin is executive-producing the TV series of her award-winning novel, Who Fears Death. Martin is the author of best-selling series of fantasy books Game of Thrones, which was adapted into the famous TV series.


This is a huge feat for the prolific writer Nnedi Okafor who continues to dominate our spheres and beyond, with titles that are packed with our Nigerian heritage, including the novella Binti which won both the 2016 Nebula Award and 2016 Hugo Award.
